 Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus
« Thread Started on Aug 21, 2006, 6:36pm »

Hi everyone! We are considering IHD for our next trip in March , hoping we will love it as much as we loved the Iberostar Dominicana in Punta Cana for the last 2 years.
I read they have 7 buildings of either 2 or 3 stories. My first question is do they have elevators?
Also, if anyone is familiar with both of these hotels, would the Bayahibe hotel require more walking than the Punta Cana hotel, to get from our room to the beach or buffet restaurant?
Thank you for your help!

Try sending a pm to baltobabe, I think she has stayed here. Also, I have seen posts from the maineacs (sp?) who have been here also. kaki may also be able to assist. I would suspect from the photos in baltobabe's photoshows she sent to me in a post just a few down from here (IBHD Questions) there is no elevators. Maybe they can answer some of your other questions also. There is also a map of the property in Resort Maps under Frequently Asked Questions. Good luck...we have stayed the last 2 years at IB* Bavaro and are trying this one in December also, I can't wait!!

There are no elevators that I can remember and I do believe less walking to the restaurants, pools, and the beach at the IHD. This is truly a gem of a resort IMHO. 8-)

Thank you so much for your answers.
I'm having problems logging on to the forum, receiving "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem..." message and I'm kicked out of Explorer...
I even created a new account under the name kikirr and I finally got to this reply screen before that same message came up again. This time, it did not close my window... so I'm hoping this message will get through!
If anyone can help me with my problem, I would appreciate it very much. If not, I have enjoyed the years I could come on this very good forum... but pleaseeeeeeeeeee help me someone, as I do not want to leave!!!!!!! Hoping this will work when I hit the send button!

Well it worked this time, but AFAIK, the problem seems unique to your computer. I suggest you do a virus scan and check for spyware.

I just posted a whole message and lost it. I was saying I installed last week Norton 2006 after using the 2005 version without any problems. I did a full scan and nothing was found. I notice that when Explorer closes on me, I am still logged in under my username when I reconnect to the forum. Is this normal? Should I delete cookies, or something?
I think I vaguely remember reading on a (this?) forum about someone having problems and it was related to the kind of forum and having a "non-legal" version of Windows? Anyone remembers this? I can't do a search, because I get kicked out too fast... The problems does not happen on every site I visit, only a few...
If anyone has any idea to help me out, I appreciate it. It might take me a while to reply, but I will try... Thank you.
P.S.: this is the first time I could be this long without being kicked out! Hopefully, I will be able to send this message.

I just searched and found these posts under "problems to log in" dated April and May 2006.

I had one member who kept getting logged off because her computer date and time was off by about a week. Setting login to 'forever' should have resolved that, but we never tried. Once her date and time was correct, no more problems ....
It should work. I have mine set to forever. As a result of solving various technical issues with other members in the past, I have a few user names and passwords. I just tried it on a "normal" account and didn't notice any problems. I even exited the browser and came back - still logged on.
It's a mystery to me.

My question is where is that "forever" thing? maybe that is my problem?

ok, I logged off and found the "forever" when I logged back on. I will see if it makes a difference...
The last time I was kicked out, I had a message about "memory that could not be "written"..

The log in selection time only affects how long you stay on the forum without having to log in again. It's quite normal to go away and then come back again without having to log in.

It's got nothing to do with dumping IE.

On the other hand, memory that can not be written would dump IE immediately. Any other programs crashing or any indication of memory issues on your machine?

This is my 5th attempt tonight! Thank you Bob and Aga for your answers.

Aga, any particular building I should ask for considering medical reasons that prevent me from walking distances confortably? My room being right in the middle from the beach and the buffet restaurant would be perfect for me. Thank you again for your help.

Bob, everything else on my system is working OK. It happened on maybe 2 other sites (all links followed from debbies), but didn't happen on any other site that I visit. Another weird thing is that I couldn't copy with ctlr c, ctlr v, yesterday. But tonight it seems OK. And it was only here (when I tried to copy my message in case I got kicked out).

I don't know what to say. To the best of my knowledge, no one else has reported any issues with the site.
The only times I have had problems with "copy with ctlr c, ctlr v", I was having serious issues with my machine.
I doubt that the recent installation of Norton 2006 has anything to do with it.
For curiosities sake, have you tried Firefox?

kakir
I asked around and got the following.
This could be your issue.
BTW, Norton does not detect spyware, just viruses.
I also run Spybot frequently.
bob
= = = =

This is a spyware, malware issue that is eating up the memory.
Google "memory that could not be written"

http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/You_Must_...._Log-t2852.html

A very complicated fix, I run spyware blaster in the background and use Spybot Search and Destroy weekly to make sure there are NO bots getting into my computer. they work.

hi going back to your original question , i stayed in the ib dominicana last year and did the sanao island trip which left fom the hacienda so i have walked thru the reception area and some of the resort grounds ,, the hacienda looked more upmarket than the dominicana , but it didnt look anywhere near as big , remember this is a single hotel where as the dominicana is part of a 3 hotel complex ,, the sea on the south coast was very calm compared to the east , it looked more like a lake ( of course this could have just been the weather that day ) but my overall impresion was that i was glad i had picked the dominicana ................ this of course is based on spending around 30mins at the hacienda !!!

Hola Kizzy: I would disagree. We have stayed at both IB Punta Cana and IHD and at least to us IHD is hands down better. We love the south coast for its calm waters and snorkeling right off the beach. We love IHD and Casa del Mar. We go back next year for 2 weeks: one week at each resort!!!!!!!!
IB Punta Cana is very nice and you have more choices of restaurants, but IHD is one of our favs.

Thank you so much for your trouble, Bob. I will surely check that site and use the downloads.

Hizzy and Maineacs, thanks for your input. We are now decided to try IHD in March. As soon as we get confirmation from my husband's job, we will book it (probably next week). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is still available... the date we wanted is already sold out!

Hi kikir I was at IBHD in 2004 you can check out my shots on the link below to my webshots site...you might have to search a bit but they are there!

There are no elevators there unless they put them in since 2004. I hope one of our more recent IBHD travellers comes on to give you the latest and greatest info on the hotel!

all the best,

Thank you Baltobabe. I saw your pictures and can't wait to finalize the purchase of our trip!

By the way, it seems my problem with staying connected to the forum is fixed! Will never know what the problem was, though...
Thank you Bob for your help.

Hi, been to both hotels (as well as most other Iberostars in the carribean, I can confirm there is no lifts, distances (recept to pool ect are similar) In general the Hascienda is newer and slightly more up market, Everytime they build a new hotel, they improve it,The hacienda is near a very small village called Bayahibe, so there is less to do outside of the complex, The beach here, similar to the dominicana/punta cana is awesome. Any questions, just ask.. Regards, Peter and Elspeth

Made a minor spelling correction to correct a word that was somewhat 'not nice' when mispelled.

:) Can anyone point me in the right direction for a map of the resort zone on the South Coast?? ???

We are seriously looking into the IHD for our Spring trip '07 and am trying to get as much info as possible. It's no easy task, let me tell you!

So, what's the airport we would fly into or does it depend on the carrier? Departure from Toronto, just in case this makes a difference.

Am I to be looking at Samana resorts? Bayahibe? La Romana?

Gosh, I am so confused!!!! ??? ;) :-*

You can search for resorts in LaRomana / Bayahibe area here those resorts would be listed under "south coast"

You can go to:

http://www.debbiesdominicantravel.com/southcoast.html

It is a link here on debbies that have many if not all the hotles in that area!

I have stayed at both The IBHD and CDM! if you have any questions on either of them I would be glad to answer.

Shirley,

I have a couple of sketchy maps of the resorts in the Bayahibe area. Send me an e-mail if you're interested.

To get to these resorts you can fly into Santo Domingo (90 minutes away), La Romana (20 minutes away) or Punta Cana (75 to 90 minutes away). It will indeed depend on the carrier more than the city of departure. After the end of March the options decrease drastically. Don't look for a flight to Samana! It will take you to entirely the wrong part of the island!

Shirley it is quite popular with the Europeans! I have met some lovely folks at both resorts...but I recall a sweet belgium couple and lovely german couple from IBHD!!!

If you click on my link for photoshows...they are at the bottom of each of my posts...when you get to the photoshows on the left side is a menu where you can click on the ones for Iberostar...you might enjoy them they have music and captions!!!

and here is the map of IBHD.

all the best,

I was there twice in 2004

Hello all :)

Is it possible to stay at the Iberstar Bavaro and take a day trip to the IB Hacienda Dominicus and then use the facilities, bar, buffet, and/or speciality restaurants?

How long of a drive is it from the Bavaro to the Hacienda Dominicus?

How do the two beaches compare?

Thanks ;D

We're looking at a sell-off in April '07 for this little gem! :-*
