 Just returned from Paradisus Palma Real
« Thread Started on Mar 5, 2007, 9:53am »

We had a wonderful, restful, luxurious week away from the cold, snowy winter here in Canada.

Any questions? Ask away - would love the opportunity to pass on any information about this lovely resort.

I'm trying to decide between PPC and PPR -- wondering if the price difference is worth it. Please pass along any info you can. Did you see any weddings while you were there?

Yes, there was a wedding on Saturday and it was all set up on the beach and was stunning. I think that you would find quite a drastic difference between the two resorts. The Palma Real would really be superior especially if it is a wedding or special anniversary that you are celebrating. The management/staff will go far and beyond your expectations in order to make your stay extra special. I can appreciate your hesitation regarding the cost though. We walked the beach alot and were able to check on the condition of other resorts and honestly, we we return to our stretch of beach, we joked that we were returning to the Ritz. It's luxurious, without being over the top. I was a little bit intimidated that it may be too posh and feel the need to 'dress-up' constantly, but it is just simply 'beautiful' in every way. You just simply could not be disappointed. I don't particularly think that upgrading to Royal service is necessary either (another way to save considerable amount of money) because you will receive great service either way. The royal service will ensure that you receive a covered bed at pool side or on the beach - but they are available to every one anyway! Also, dinner reservations are simply made yourself between 9am and 2pm via telephone, which takes only a minute or simply enjoy the buffet, which were delicious.

If you have any other questions, please ask away.

I have a couple of questions.

Is it difficult to get a shady seat at the beach or pool if you don't reserve it early in the AM?

How difficult is it to get dinner reservations later than 6 PM and earlier than 9:45 PM?

Any info much appreciated-thanks.

::)Hello and Welcome Home!

Glad to hear you had a nice time. We are going to Palma Real for our first trip in June. I have a couple of questions. How was the food? Do you know if you do not reserve Royal Service, Do they offer it to you upon check in? any difference in the price? Any other tips you can offer would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Bella

To answer a couple of questions, we were in the royal service and never had a problem getting shade at the beach. The beach is really nice and shouldn't have a problem even if you don't do the royal service, they have plenty of shade. You should make your dinner reservations early in the day, although even if we didn't have reservations and walked in, they found a spot for us. The best restaurants are Bana (on the side that they cook the fresh food in front of you), Passion, and Gabi Beach. With Royal Service, Gabi Beach is free otherwise you have to pay.

Any room or suite you pick at the Palma Real is an excellent one. As I stated before it is a truly stunning resort. Of course the Royal Service Deluxe is for adults only and that is something you might want to consider and it is also situated near the beach with a private pool. If it is your honeymoon and money is no problem then maybe you should book it. However the "regular" rooms are really really nice and are a lot cheaper to stay at. 8-)
