Thank you so much - WOW - so now I'm really excited and plan on booking in the morning for March - 2 weeks!
Are the Colonial Jr. Suites just on the main floor or upper floors as well? Are they closer to the beach?
Thanks for the info!

The one we saw (noted as CJS in the description) was a second or third floor Ocean Front CJS unit.

I was in both the casino and disco and I would suggest that they are of second tier importance; although if the gambling equipment is on site it could start up overnight once the (small - maybe 1000 sq. ft.) room is ready.
Just my opinion.
Gregg

Guys, just wondering what the snorkeling possibilities are? Looking at pic 095 it appears there is a reef just off the beach.

I have never been to an all inclusive but booked the majestic colonial several weeks ago for Jan 8. Very excited about going but have mixed feelings. My thoughts are "go with an open mind and make the best time out of it without sweating the small stuff"
Thanks to Gregg and all others who constantly update this site. I have been watching for several weeks and thought it was time to say thank you for the updates. I am sure it will open with a few minor issues but all in all it should be awesome.
I do have one question...they mention that snorkelling is included with the package. I hear that the beaches in the DR are very rough and that you cannot snorkel without spending money on an excursion. Is this true? Thanks in advance for any replies

Having just returned from Breezes PUJ (two resorts north of Majestic Colonial) and having seen firsthand the surf in front of MC - I personally would want calmer water to snorkel in, as the waves break on the reef offshore with considerable force. Of course depending on your level of expertise (I have NONE) you may not care as much. My understanding is that fairly reasonably priced alternatives exist.

I'm booked with my family at Majestic for Dec 22nd. Really appreciate the feedback received by everybody on this forum on the resort's status. But too bad, it's not as far ahead as I had hoped. Here's a few other questions:
1) What are the other major resorts close by to the Majestic, and if known what is the distance. 2) Also am interested in the snorkelling possibilities close by.
Thanks
